The official trailer announcement of Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’ was recently released. Called Asli Hip Hop, the clip featured a rap portion rendered by actor Ranveer Singh.

The well received clip features Ranveer’s character going about his day and introduces the characters of Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin.

‘Gully Boy’ is loosely based on the lives of rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy.

In a recent interview, Divine revealed that while he worked with the actor on his role, he cannot take credit for the actor’s effortless flow and shared that he did it all on his own. “I would just hang around in the studio, while he would do his [own] thing. I didn’t train him,” Divine told Mid-Day.

Divine added that Ranveer did not require any formal training. The rapper would just hang around the studio while the actor would do his own thing. Earlier, before the film went on floors, Ranveer prepared hard with Divine and would train and rap with him.

Divine also gave a thumbs-up to Ranveer’s look saying the actor looks very real and encouraging.  ‘Gully Boy’ will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival this year and is scheduled for a February 14 release.
