Singer Harshdeep Kaur has composed Satguru Nanak Aaye Ne, a special ‘Shabad’ celebrating Guru Nanak on his 550th birth anniversary. The song and the accompanying video released today.
To mark the occasion, Kaur gathered together her friends from the industry — Shankar Mahadevan, Salim Merchant, Shekhar Ravjiani, Shaan Neeti Mohan, Jaspinder Narula, Richa Sharma, Kapil Sharma and Sukhshinder Shinda.
The song has been written by Charanjit Singh and Jagmeet Bal. The video is directed by Jagmeet Bal.
Harshdeep explained the evolution of the song. She says, “My aim was to compose something celebratory. I realised that this can’t just be about me. I wanted to take this song to the entire world and for that to happen, I needed diverse familiar voices and personalities to be part of this melody. That’s how it got bigger and everyone came on board magically, as if there was some divine intervention.”
She adds, “I reworked on the music keeping in mind all the artists and their unique voices. I added aalaaps, ad-libs, harmonies, etc so that each artist gets to sing in their best style. One thing led to another and we decided to not just leave it as a musical piece and shot a video with all of us in it together. The end product is so beautiful and so full of devotion and I am blessed that all these legendary singers are part of this ‘Shabad’.
