Ranveer Singh’s trailer announcement ‘Asli HipHop’ is a ‘Jungli Sher’ tribute

If the ‘Gully Boy’ poster released yesterday wasn’t evidence enough, the makers of the film have now released a “trailer announcement” of the Zoya Akhtar-helmed film, which has Ranveer Singh belting out ‘Asli Hip Hop’.
The cut featured in this video features music and lyrics by Spitfire. On supporting vocal duties are the rappers D’EVIL, Nexus, Rahul Raahi, Emiway Bantai, D-cypher, BeatRAW and Big Sid. D-cypher and BeatRAW have also beat-boxed for the song.
The film, which sees Ranveer opposite Alia Bhatt, also features music scored by Ankur Tewari, Karsh Kale and Savage Audio Collective.
One thing struck as particularly interesting, though. This video is a frame-by-frame nod to Divine’s Jungli Sher.
We even posted the videos on our Instagram page side-by-side so you can check it out.
According to reports, Divine is one of two rappers (Naezy being the other) on who Ranveer’s character is based.
