REVIEW: Zero’s ‘Husn Parcham’ gets a dose of sass thanks to Raja Kumari

When the only thing you aren’t “short” on is ambition, you either go all in or not at all. Bauaa Singh (played by Shah Rukh Khan) and Team Zero pick the former for their third single from the soundtrack, Husn Parcham.
The story of a midget who gets more than his fair share of “ishq wala love”and who (probably) squanders his one chance at true love, goes for style over substance.
Babita Kumari (Katrina Kaif) is Bauua’s celebrity crush and this song serves to tell you why. She is glamorous, the unattainable object every man dreams of and knows it.
Ajay-Atul go for a victory song-meets-brag extravaganza wala feel. The sound is a melange of influences that work well with Irshad Kamil’s nuanced lyrics and Raja Kumari’s easy-going, smooth flow in Hinglish.
As the lead singer, Bhoomi doesn’t disappoint, but doesn’t wow either. Make no mistake, it is a job well done and competently so, but her rendition feels devoid of sass, a quality that comes to the fore in RK’s portions.
Husn Parcham titillates, but as a viewer, doesn’t seduce you as convincingly as it does Bauua. They’ve tried to pull out all the stops in the video and the effort is clearly showing.>
