Selena Gomez opens up about dealing with bipolar disorder
Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus

In an Instagram Live with Miley Cyrus on her virtual series Bright Minded, Selena Gomez shared among other things, that she realised that she was bipolar.

Over a 20-minute discussion, the two discussed how they were dealing with the coronavirus pandemic among other things.

One of those things was mental health. Selena said, “Recently, I went to one of the best mental health hospitals in America, McClean Hospital, and I discussed that after years of going through a lot of different things, I realised that I was bipolar. And so when I got to know more information, it actually helps me. It doesn’t scare me once I know it.”

Speaking about the diagnosis, Selena said she was terrified and relieved at the same time. “Terrified because the veil was lifted but relieved that I finally had the knowledge of why I had suffered with various depressions and anxieties for so many years. I never had full awareness or answers about this condition.”

This was the first time Selena has discussed her bipolar diagnosis.
