Shashaa Tirupati puts a cheery spin to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan classic, Tere Bin Nai Lagda

Shashaa Tirupati’s gone ahead and done it. Given her take on the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan classic Tere Bin Nahin Lagda via a “revisitation” and an accompanying music video. Well, haven’t you noticed? NFAK is trending and just as well, that Shashaa puts her sublime touch to the number.
As much as we hate the fad, we know that the singer was into cover versions before making it big, so we know her heart is in the right place when she “pays tribute” with her production. Joining her in her endeavour are Sid Paul on guitar and Crehyl Pereira on keys.
At once, you make out that the song’s based in Goa (correct us if we’re wrong). It’s got that tropical vibe going for it, something that comes across in the music production as well. There’s some brilliant percussive guitar-work by Sid, who she has worked with, before. Crehyl’s keyboard comes to life in the second part of the song.
Shashaa removes the sentimentality and the moodiness of the original and infuses it with new life, bringing a vibrancy to the track. As if that wasn’t enough, she traipses through the streets with a cheery demeanour, quite removed from the wistfulness of the original.
We rarely cheer re-creations. This is one of those rare times.>
