‘Tum Na Aaye’ deserves far more than a lyric video

It’s vaguely surprising that Badla’s third track Tum Na Aayehas to make do with a lyric video.
Amaal Mallik’s second track for the Taapsee Pannu-Amitabh Bachchan starrer is about someone who’s lost everything and lets out a palpable cry of anguish. It’s a song that deserved a standalone music video.
KK’s voice articulates the loneliness of a soul surrounded by a variety of emotions. AM Turaz has penned the lyrics of a song that is an anthem for everyone who has loved, lost and longed.
Contemporary and classic at the same time, it’s a befitting song for the stature of a singer like KK and sees Amaal take you on a different trip than he last did.
The lyric video itself has a montage of stills that does precious little to underscore the song’s beauty.
Pretty surprising since the song’s up before the film’s release.
